Heat Shink / Shrinkwrap
A heat shrink or shrinkwrap packing solution is a cost effective design for equipment that isn't fragile or particularly susceptible to moisture or the elements. It offers no protection from physical damage and some protection from the elements, but it is much less expensive than enclosing the equipment in a full box, especially for large pieces of equipment.
This large and heavy machine was attached to a very heavy duty skid and covered with a 5 ply, reinforced, VCI impregnated heat shrink. Lifting cables were designed, attached to the machine and passed through the heat shrink so that the machine can be lifted without destroying the integrity of the packaging solution.

With Corrosion Protection
Heat shrink materials come in a variety of thicknesses and some emit a corrosion inhibitor that can retard or prevent rusting. In general, as the thickness of the material increases so does the protection, the resistance to tears and the expense. Thinner materials can cost 75% less than the standard and may be the right product to use for large, low value and weather-proof equipment.
The machine pictured here has been wrapped in 8mm material that emits a corrosion inhibiting chemical. So this machine has been wrapped in a very strong material that will also protect it from corrosion/rust in most conditions. Although it is our most expensive heat shrink design, it is still a cost effective packaging solution compared to a crate or box.
